As a practicing calligrapher for 6+ years, I've continued to practice and develop my style, and have also since started an affordable calligraphy business. Though I specialize in calligraphy for wedding envelopes, I've also done place cards, envelopes for special events (including addressing invitations to the Governor and Mayor of Boston!), seating charts, menus, and other specialized projects. I also offer a variety of color inks available, and often custom-mix inks to match very specific colors found in wedding invitations.
Beginnings
One of my most fond forms of artwork is calligraphy. It all started while I was in high school and found a how-to calligraphy book that my mom had used in the '70s. From there, I started practicing and soon got recruited by the dean of my high school to fill out school certificates with names!
I really do love this job. I love working with brides and have always loved weddings. I worked as a florist for several years as well, so I do have experience within the industry. I have served hundreds of brides the past 6 years, have a full portfolio book available of my work, and pride myself on my work's quality. I have experience and knowledge, and am a professional and reliable calligrapher: always completing jobs on time: if not earlier! So if you are in search of wedding calligraphy, Boston (or nearly anywhere else, for that matter: I've completed jobs from New York to Salt Lake City!) I hope that you will consider using my services.
Speaking of - you don't need an incredible budget to afford my calligraphy! I have very reasonable rates, and I use a deposit / amount outstanding payment plan, so you do not have to pay all up front. I ask half the total job amount when I receive the envelopes, then the amount outstanding 2-3 weeks later when I have completed the work.
My Calligraphy Vision
With my inexpensive wedding calligraphy, it's my intention that every bride on a budget at least has an option to have her invitations personalized. With the growing trend of *do it yourself* weddings, I understand using printers and labels, but I don't agree with it. Having the maid of honor or friend write out your envelopes is lovely, but what if their handwriting doesn't reflect the style of your wedding? What if getting your envelopes done is not really a high priority? And using labels - this is your wedding, not an office mailing! ;-P
Last Minute Calligraphy
Additionally, a large part of my clientele is attributed to last-minute addressing jobs. Did the printer you ordered your invites from make a mistake? Are your invitations on backorder? Did your calligrapher mother sprain her wrist? Or are you JUST NOW getting your addresses from your fiance? I've seen all these situations and more, and am proud to say that I could pull them through. In order to help you make your 6-8 week before your wedding deadline, I have small rush fees so that I may accommodate your time: 15% of the total job cost for completed calligraphy work within 1 week's time, and 20% for 3-4 days! How does that sound?
If you'd like to see some work or references before you request a consultation, you can see my calligraphy listing in my etsy shop, which usually serves as my most basic advertisement. I also have a shop and Wedding Wire, which is a fantastic source for brides to find local, reputable vendors. On my storefront, you can see my growing amount of previous client recommendations, in addition to some helpful calligraphy tips and tricks to use for your wedding.
So what are you waiting for? I hope to hear from you soon!
